Russell “Russ” Faber of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully March 1, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Russ was respected and beloved by those who knew him. He was born November 18, 1961 in Derby, CT.
Along with his wife Robin, Russ started Daytona Beach based Creative Management Group in 1997. CMG started out as a promotional management company but quickly expanded to several divisions including celebrity brand management, a SAG/AFTRA models and talent agency, CMG retail, product brand management, non-profit management and CMG Pro Security.
Though he remained a great leader to all of Creative Management’s divisions, his professional passion was working with his celebrity friends on their brand management, whether it was negotiating corporate sponsorship deals, managing their movie premiers or charitable events to helping to produce various entertainment productions. He is listed as a producer for the John Gotti movie currently in pre-production and wa s in the process of developing a pilot for a television show.
Prior to creating Creative Management Group, Russ had been the director of marketing for the Volusia County Beach Department which took him to Volusia County from Orlando where he had developed Fastbreak Marketing, a company specializing in creating and managing fantasy basketball camps. He also handled marketing for the Orlando Lions professional soccer team, the Gastonia Rangers minor league baseball team, and the Dallas Sidekicks a indoor professional soccer team.
Russ grew up in Seymour and graduated in 1979 from Holy Cross High School in Waterbury. He then went on to graduate with a B.S. degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas where he met his wife during their last semester at the school. They were married in 1987 in Dallas, TX.
Russ was also proud to be a registered Girl Scout as he started a troop which his wife is now the leader of for his daughter and her friends. The troop is still together eight years later. He was very much an animal lover and did a lot of work to help animals in need. He assisted his wife in starting the “Tails and Tots” festival which ran for five years and benefited three local Humane Societies as well as other local rescue groups.
He can be remembered “mastering” the center ring. He was a former Rotarian, and member of the National Arts Club in New York City. But, his true passion was his daughter Jade. If she was involved at an event, function or performance, he could always be found close by.
Russ is pre-deceased by his dad, Robert Sr. of Seymour CT, and survived by his loving wife of 27 years Robin Ruenheck Faber, his daughter Jade, his mother Priscilla of Seymour, CT, his siblings; Robert Jr. of Titusville, FL, Richard of Wethersfield, CT and Cindy Gavin of Bethany, CT, and nephews Robert, Christopher, Jackson, Dylan, James (DeMaio) and niece Ashley (DeMaio) as well as great niece Layla (DeMaio), all of Connecticut.
