Arthur Kenneth McAllister, age 89, of Stratford, beloved husband of Ann DeBrizzi McAllister passed away peacefully on September 8, 2014 in his residence with his loving family by his side.
Arthur was born on July 3, 1925 in Bangor, Maine and was the son of the late Arthur and Frances McAllister.
He graduated from John Babst Catholic High School and was a technical engineer. He was employed by Country Home Bakers in Bridgeport for several years. In 1977, Arthur traveled abroad to Saudi Arabia for a long term employment opportunity.
He was an avid golfer, gardener, enjoyed his pets, lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox’s and was a longtime member of the First District Italian Club of Stratford.
In addition to his beloved wife Ann of 71 years, Arthur is also survived by two sons, Kenneth Arthur McAllister and wife Sally of Ohio and Dennis James McAllister of Ansonia, one daughter, Michele Rutigliano and husband David of Trumbull, four grandchildren, Kelly, Scott, David and Joseph, two brothers, Donald McAllister and wife Marge of Vermont and Robert McAllister and wife Brenda of Oregon, one sister, Madelyn Buckley of Florida, one devoted niece and Goddaughter, Linda Manos of Stratford and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his cherished parents, Arthur was also predeceased by one brother, William McAllister.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 11, 2014 at 9:00 AM DIRECTLY in St. James Church 2070 Main Street Stratford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Lynch. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home 2220 Main Street Stratford on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
