Genevieve “Jean” Biondi
Genevieve “Jean” Biondi, 90, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, February 9, 2015, at Birmingham Health Care in Derby.
She was the beloved wife of Mario Biondi and predeceased by her first husband Salvatore Ferrara Sr.
Mrs. Biondi was born in Shelton on Nov. 28, 1924, daughter of the late Agostino and Madeline Malafronte Salzano.
A resident of Derby for many years, she was employed at Bradlees Department Store in West Haven until her retirement. Jean was an active member of the Ansonia and Derby Senior Centers and enjoyed playing BINGO, visiting the casino and cooking.
She will be remembered for her outgoing and feisty personality and everyone will certainly miss her lasagna and Italian cookies.
She is survived by a son, Salvatore Ferrara Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Wethersfield, a cherished grandson, Brett Ferrara and his wife Kezia of Cromwell, great-grandchildren, Zachary and Khloe Ferrara, sisters in law, Geraldine Ferrara, Irene Ferrara and Gerry Salzano and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Ferrara, grandson, Daniel Ferrara, brothers, Dominic, Alfonso, Augustine and James Salzano and sisters, Mary Donato, Sadie Segatori and Carmela Coppola.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday February 11, 2015, at 11:00 am, in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, with Deacon Richard Renker officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Visiting will take place on Wednesday morning from 9:30 am until the service begins.
