Gertrude M. Devlin Venice, 93, of Ansonia, affectionately known as “Nana,” died Nov. 28, at Griffin Hospital, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Samuel R. Venice.
Mrs. Venice was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 6, 1922, daughter of the late Bernard and Rose Ann Murphy Devlin. She enjoyed going to her prayer and craft groups.
She is survived by sons, Girard S. Venice (Sharon) of Sanford, NC, Robert Venice (Debra) of Johnston, RI and Gary J. Venice (Christine) of Spring City, TN, a daughter, Judith A. Motel (George) of Goshen, CT, a sister, Marie Dziadik of Warren, CT, 8 cherished grandchildren, 6 adoring great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visiting will take place on Wednesday December 2, 2015, from 10:00-11:00 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 11:00 am, a funeral service in celebration of Gertrude’s life will take place with Deacon Richard Renker officiating. Interment will immediately follow in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck.
