Mark A. Velardi, 53, of Ansonia, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on February 9, 2014, while visiting his sister in Colorado. He was the devoted husband of Charlene M. Valeria Velardi.
Mark was born in New Haven on March 10, 1960, beloved son of Dorothy Casiero Velardi of Port St. Lucie, FL and the late Joseph Velardi.
He was a graduate of West Haven High School Class of 1978, where he was captain of the football team earning All-State Honors.
A resident of the Ansonia community for 26 years, he was the owner of Mark Velardi General Carpentry.
Mark was very conscientious and took great pride in his work. He served as president of the former Ansonia Pop Warner.
In addition to his wife Charlene, he is survived by a loving son, David J. Velardi and a loving daughter, Samantha Velardi of Ansonia, three brothers, Joseph Velardi (Ellen) and John Velardi (Paula) of Bethany and Paul Velardi (Renee) of Ansonia, two sisters, Mary Ann Binkley (Steven) of CO and Laura Velardi (John Hallonquist) of FL, father in law, John Valeria of Ansonia, sister in law, Deborah DiDio (John) of VA, dear friends, Kelly and Jan Curtis of Derby, his “Friday Song Crew”, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday February 14, 2014, from 4-7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, friends and relatives are invited to meet directly at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive, Ansonia, where Mark’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
