Obituary: Victor G. Raymond Jr., 83, of Derby

Victor G. Raymond Jr., 83, of Derby, passed away peacefully on March 5 with his loving family by his side.

Born in New Haven on October 14, 1930 son of the late Victor G. Raymond Sr and Edna Beauvais Raymond.

He served in the Army during the Korean War and retired after 35 years as a station operator for CL& P at the Stevenson Dam.

Victor was a Past Commander and lifetime member of the American Legion David S. Miles Post 174 of Oxford and a member of the former West Haven Rifle Club.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dawn and devoted daughters, Gail, Jill, Lisa Towey (Thomas III), Holly Sheehy (Atty James), and Amy Evans (Robert); and his grandchildren which were his pride and joy, Kaelyn & Brigit Sheehy, Thomas IV, Samantha & Jonathan Towey, and Skylar & Kendall Evans. He is also survived by his brother Gerald and his wife Ruth and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his broth ers John & Robert.

Victor enjoyed his family vacations especially to St. Patrice, Quebec, Canada, Brewster, Cape Cod, Pearl Harbor & Hoover Dam. He was a “jack of all trades”, a Mr. Fix-it, who enjoyed and took pride in the fact that he was able to fix just about anything around the house and on his cars.

John T. Bennett Funeral Home, 91 North Cliff St., Ansonia, handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Victor’s memory to the American Legion Post 174, Oxford, through the funeral home director or to a charity of one’s choice.
