Joseph M. Miller Jr.

Joseph M. Miller Jr., 76, of Ansonia, died on Tuesday, May 20. He was the husband of the late Gail Kilbride Miller.

Joseph was born in New Haven on July 6, 1937, son of the late Joseph Sr. and Helen Foley Miller.

Joseph was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, West Haven, class of 1955, and earned his BS and MBA degrees from The University of New Haven.

Joseph served his country with distinction in The United States Army as a military police officer in Germany. He spent several decades as a bank executive and retired as Comptroller for the City of Ansonia in September, 2012.

Joseph was active in his childrens’ sports teams as a fan, coach and Commissioner of the Ansonia Girl’s Softball League.

Survivors are children Joseph (Catherine) Miller of Madison, John (Lisa) Miller of Orange, Ellen (Seth) Dworken of Milford, Anne (Daniel) Lynch of Ansonia, and Timothy Miller and fiance, Amanda Crenshaw of Hamden; his sister, Marjorie Clemens (Richard Gross) of Rocky Hill; and his grandchildren, Grace Riggio, Maeve, Flynn and Sloan Miller, Ryan and Justin Miller, Brendan and Molly Lynch, and Patrick Miller; his sister-in-law, Sr. Anne Kilbride, O.P.; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, William and James Miller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 24, at 9:30 a.m. in The Church of the Assumption, 61 No. Cliff Street, Ansonia, CT 06401. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, CT. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 23, from 4-8 p.m. in the John T. Bennett Funeral Home, 91 No. Cliff Street.
