Frances Irene Oczkowski
Frances Irene Oczkowski, 88, formerly of Nichols St. Ansonia, entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.
Frances was born in Seymour on June 11, 1925, daughter of the late Andrew Oczkowski and Felicia Weslowski Oczkowski.
She attended school in Seymour and then devoted her life to the care of her family. Frances was a communicant of St. Augustine Church.
She was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed gardening and ensuring that the neighborhood birds and squirrels were always well fed. She was a devoted Grandmother who treasured every opportunity to help with child care. Frances was affectionately given the nickname of “Porky”. She enjoyed trying her luck with lotto tickets.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her son, Michael Oczkowski; brothers, Valentine, Andrew, Edward and John Oczkowski; and sisters, Wanda Bridiskus, Genevieve Goux, Helen Poruznick, and Florence Simmon s. Frances is survived by her devoted son, John Oczkowski, of Wallingford; cherished daughter, Linda Sanzo of Seymour; beloved grandchildren John Oczkowski, Jr. and his wife Kristine of Seymour, Nicole Oczkowski of Branford, Andrew Oczkowski and Megin Oczkowski both of East Haven and Robin Veilleux; cherished great-grandchildren Michael Sanzo, Paul and Brian Veilleux, Matthew and Bethany Oczkowski.
Funeral Services will be held at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home, 47 Washington Ave. Seymour on Thursday May 22 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday morning beginning at 9:00am.
