Theresa V. Mishler, 70, of Prospect, formerly of Seymour, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning September 16, 2014, at her home following a long and courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Mishler.
Mrs. Mishler was born in Derby on January 13, 1944, daughter of the late Joseph and Matilda Sroka Greski. She along with her loving family was raised on the family farm in Ansonia.
She was an active communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Ansonia for the entire time she lived there. She attended business school and became employed at the former B.F. Goodrich where she worked for many years. In 1969, she married Thomas J. Mishler of Boswell, PA and they made their home in Seymour, eventually settling into a home along the banks of the Housatonic River, where they lived happily for more than 40 years.
In 1976, she was blessed with a son, Gerald, who was her pride and joy. Terri was a communicant of St. Augustine Church in Seymour and then St. Mary Church in Derby. Always a devout Catholic, she actively participated in all church activities including the crowning of the Blessed Mother, church choir and Novenas of Special Intentions.
She is survived by a loving son, Gerald J. Mishler and his wife April Herman Mishler of Prospect, cherished granddaughters, Hannah and Charlotte Mishler, two loving sisters, Mary Ann Egan and her husband Michael and Josephine DiMartino all of Ansonia. She will be missed by her loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephew, cousins and extended family all of which she remained close and devoted to for all of her life.
She was predeceased by her brother in law, Biagio DiMartino.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday September 18, 2014, from 4-8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, her funeral will be held at 10:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St. in Derby. Interment will take place in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
Contributions in Theresa’s memory may be made to ALS Association or St. Mary/St. Michael Catholic School in Derby through the funeral home.
