Florida “Flo” Karg

Florida “Flo” Karg, age 80, of Beacon Falls, beloved wife of the late Raymond F. Karg, Jr. entered peaceful rest on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at Orange Health Care Center.

She was born on July 23, 1934 in New York, NY and was the daughter of the late Albert and Rose (Paradis) Gaudet.

Mrs. Karg was a sales associate at JcPenney Co. in Derby for many years and worked prior at the Anaconda American Brass in Ansonia and Philips Medical in Shelton.

She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Beacon Falls and a former communicant at St. Jude Church in Derby. Mrs. Karg enjoyed crafts and flower arranging but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and cheering them on at many sporting events. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She leaves a son, Dale Karg of Summerville, SC and a daughter, Carrie Cox and her husband John of Woodbridge and five grandchildren, Brendan, Camryn and Nathan Cox Bridget and Ryan Karg, and was a beloved Godmother to Yvette Chewning of VA. She also leaves her brother and sisters, Regis Gaudet in Minn., Lloyd Chapman in FL, Alberta Rock in Fl and Shirley Bernabucci in Hamden and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Gaudet and her sisters, Terry Gill and Mildred Beyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Dean Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

Barbara Jane (Stanton) Hillis, age 83, of Shelton, took her final bow on February 25, 2015, while in the warm embrace of her loving family.

“Lady Barbara” was born in Rochester, NY to the late Earl J. and Marion Elizabeth Stanton.

A Charter Oak State College graduate, she found her life’s passion in education and dance, teaching early childhood development and founding the Barbara Hillis Dance Studio, a staple of the Huntington, CT community for 40 years, through which she touched and changed the lives of thousands. Also a fixture of St. Lawrence Parish, Barbara served on the Mother’s Club and Rosary Society, and was past treasurer of the Home School Association.

Her boundless joy for living continues on in her closest students — those she spent her life teaching how to find laughter every day and to love with abundance — her greatest dance partner, beloved husband of 64 years, and soulmate Arthur L. Hillis of Shelton (who, despite his adoration for Lou Gehrig, knows that he is, indisputably, the luckiest man on the face of the earth, MTYLTT); her partners in crime, daughters Susan (Jay) Young of Oxford, Karen (Jay) Belles of Palm City, FL, Judith Hillis of Derby, and Barbara Iannotti of Shelton; her protectors, sons Richard (Deborah) Hillis of Union Grove, Alabama, Paul Hillis of Shelton, and Michael (Lynne, Barbara’s champion and guardian angel) Hillis of Derby; her eleven grandchildren who owe every graceful step to their “Nanny,” David, Danielle, Gregory, Jay, Janessa, Ryan, Whitney, Katherine, Erin, Alexandra and Shaun; eight great grandchildren Rory, Dillon, Elijah, Evan, Emma, Reagan, Samuel and Kennedy; and several nieces.

She will be greeted with open arms, warm smiles, and a snappy joke or two in her next life by her son Timothy J. Hillis, M.D. and brother Clayton Warner Stanton.

Friends and family are encouraged to join the family and celebrate her life on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-8 p.m.

A memorial Mass will be held on a date to be announced, followed by inurment in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery.

William F. Paskiewicz Jr., 59, of Ansonia, passed away in his home on February 18, 2015. He was born in Milford and was an area resident all of his life.

William worked hard to provide for his children and on his down time enjoyed collecting baseball cards and coins. Throughout his life, he found an interest in music, astronomy, and history.

He is survived by his children Traci Totten and her husband Brian of Stratford, Nicole Michel and her husband Kevin of NY, Kerry Paskiewicz of Shelton, also survived by his children Rachael Ann, Sarah, and Rebecca Paskiewicz and their mother Kathleen all of Ansonia; his parents William Sr., and Barbara (Fogler) Paskiewicz of Maine; his brothers and sisters, Susan Taylor and her husband Steven of East Lyme, Andy Paskiewicz and his wife Robin of Milford, Stephen Paskiewicz of ME and George Paskiewicz of CA; grandchildren Mia, Gavin, Jimmy, Avery and David; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Frank and Antoinette Paskiewicz and his maternal grandparents Stephen and Bertha (Fogler).

Obituary: Daniel Sorcinelli of Derby, member of the AM Club

Daniel Sorcinelli, 90, of Seymour, formerly of Derby, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Bedini Sorcinelli for 70 years. Dan was born on May 1, 1924 in Derby, son of the late Alessandro and Augusta Casini Sorcinelli.

Dan was a devoted family man. He was happiest at holidays and functions where all of his family gathered together. He was a member of the AM Club where he was a Bocci League Champion. He loved to play golf and was proud of his hole-in-one achievement. He also enjoyed playing cards at the casino. Dan was always willing to lend a helping hand. Just ask and he was there for you.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After retiring from Avco Lycoming (Textron) in 1984, Dan enjoyed his 31 years of retirement to the fullest going on vacations with his wife and family members.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (Betty) Moyher, who he lovingly called Boop and his son-in-law, Andrew, his granddaughter, Andrea Voccola and her husband Martin, and two great-grandchildren, Talia and Aiden, who knew him as Poppy. He also leaves three godsons, Louis Bedini (Denise) of Seymour, Anthony Pedevillano (Christine) of Guilford, and Al Marrone (Karen) of Bethany, and many nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his son, Daniel, sisters Irene Marrone and Marie Raccio, and brothers Albert, Anthony, and Gino Sorcinelli.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St.  Mary’s Church in Derby at Noon. His burial will follow at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery in Derby.

Obituary: Jorlando “Julius” LaGaipa, 82, of Huntington

Jorlando “Julius” LaGaipa, 82, of Huntington, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2015 at CT Hospice in Branford surrounded by his loving family. He was the adored husband of the late Dolores Pagliaroli LaGaipa and his beloved first wife Carolyn Baratta.

Born in Bridgeport on November 27, 1932, he was a son of the late Alphonso and Lucy Spinelli LaGaipa.

Julius was employed by the BAC Union Local 1 as a bricklayer and master plasterman before his retirement with over 30 years of dedicated service. He loved watching the “Game Show Network” and also looked forward to spending time with his cherished grandchildren.

Julius was a dedicated family man with an infectious smile that could brighten anyone’s day. His bright blue eyes and gift for carrying on a conversation with anyone led to many close and long lasting friendships. Some of these friendships were made while tending to the unprecedented perpetual care of his late wives final resting places.

He will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Survivors include his children, Michael LaGaipa and his wife Julie Rose of FL, Paul LaGaipa and his wife Sharon of Redding and Julie Granata of Monroe, his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Drew, Grant, Deionisio and Dominique, his step grandchildren that were considered his own, Jed, Jessica, Peter and Victoria and step great grandchildren, Matthew and Kevin, his brother, Carmen LaGaipa and his wife Lorraine of Milford. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory the children of his late wife Dolores, Joseph Moody of Derby and David Moody and his wife MaryEllen of Milford as well as several nieces and nephews.

Julius was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Joseph LaGaipa, and a sister, Rose Ciambriello.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 pm.

Cecille T. Krystopik

Cecille T. Krystopik, 86, entered into eternal rest on February 27, 2015, at Griffin Hospital.

Miss Krystopik was born in Stamford on June 17, 1928, daughter of the late Antoni and Pelagia Gorenska Krysztopik.

A lifelong resident of Ansonia, she was employed as an executive secretary for Anaconda American Brass in Ansonia. Following her retirement from American Brass, she attained her real estate license and was affiliated with Frank Hoinsky Real Estate. Later, she went on to work as an executive secretary at Rhone-Pollanc Co. in Westport until her final retirement.

A devoted long-time communicant of St. Joseph Church in Ansonia, she was the founder and member in charge at St. Joseph Marathon Bingo at Warsaw Park for 25 years. At St. Joseph, she was a member of the Women’s Guild, Polish Falcons, St. Cecilia’s Choir and received the St. Joseph’s Medal from the Archdiocese of Hartford for dedication to her church.

A gentle caring woman, family and her church meant everything to her. Ceil was gracious and kind, frequently thinking of others.

She is survived by devoted nieces and nephews, Gloria McKie and Charlene Burns (Cliff) of Ansonia and Chris Hoinsky (Nancy) and Frank Hoinsky (Jacqueline) of Milford, several great nieces and nephews, 4 great great nieces and nephews, Godson, Paul Kristopik (Theresa) of Orange and many friends.

She was predeceased by brothers, Frank, Florian, Leonard and Edward Krystopik, sisters, Florence K. Hoinski and Mary R. Krystopik and a nephew Raymond Hoinsky.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2015, from 4-7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, her funeral will be held at 9:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Church in Ansonia. Springtime burial will take place in the family plot St. Michael Cemetery in Derby.

Christopher M. Ellingson

Christopher M. Ellingson, age 45, of Seymour, the beloved husband of Kim Ellingson, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

He was born in Downers Grove, IL on May 10, 1969, the beloved son of Beatrice Sleezer Ellingson and the late Duane Ellingson.

Chris was a graduate of Emmet O’Brien Technical School in Ansonia and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was an Electrical Installer for Sikorsky Aircraft and a member of the David S. Miles Post 174 American Legion of Oxford.

Chris loved to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles, fish, attend game dinners, the New England Patriots and spending time at the beach with his wife Kim. He would do anything for anyone and was a friend to all and everyone in need.

Chris will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

His family in addition to his loving wife Kim includes his mother, Beatrice Sleezer Ellingson, his sister Stacey Ellingson, his brother Duane P. Ellingson, his brothers-in-law Tom Kelly and his wife Karen and Walter Kelly and his wife Maryann, his friends Russell Pawlak, Mike Bergesano and Richie MacEachern, his cats Bella and Buddy and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Michael Church, 25 Maple Ave., Beacon Falls. Everyone is invited to join the family at The Brookside Inn Restaurant, 231 Oxford Rd., Oxford, for a repast following the mass on Saturday. Mary O. Vimini

Mary O. Vimini, age 92, of Stratford, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 in Bridgeport Hospital.

Mary was born in Lead, South Dakota and moved to Connecticut after completing high school. She was the beloved daughter of Mary and George Odrlin and was happily married to Oswald “Ozzie” Vimini for more than 40 years until his death in February 1990.

Love surrounded her throughout her long and happy life. She was quick with a smile and a kind word and loved her family more than anything.

She was an active part of the community and enjoyed playing cards at The Baldwin Center and being a member of the Ivy League, as well as a long standing member of Our Lady of Peace Church.

She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Mary Jane Rassias and her husband, Arthur of Shelton and Donna Solomon and her husband, Louis of Stratford; her five beloved grandchildren, Laura Stay and her husband, Jeff of Milford, Susan Fehmel and her husband, Matt of Milford, Louis Solomon and his wife, Jill of Stratford, Arthur Rassias and his wife, Ria of Fairfield and Erica Rassias Thomas and her husband, Chris of Milford.

She was also fortunate enough to enjoy the love of her 14 great-grandchildren who adoringly referred to her as “Gramma Gramma,” Emma and Andrew Solomon, Jackson, Charlie and Luke Rassias, Allison and Matthew Fehmel, Annie, Ashley, Aiden and Austin Stay and Logan, Benjamin and Caroline Thomas. Mary is also survived by two sisters, Rose Bauer and her husband Walt of Ansonia and Jackie Pavich of Stratford and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents and huband, Mary was predeceased by her great-grandson, Aaron Jeffrey Stay and her siblings, George, Katherine, Elizabeth, Louie, John and George Jr.

Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday March 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford Rd., Stratford, CT. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Saturday, March 7, 2015 prior to Mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the William R. Mildred A. Stachowicz

Mildred A. Stachowicz, 91, of Ansonia, formerly of Shelton, entered into eternal rest on her 91st birthday, March 6, 2015, at the Willows of Woodbridge. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Walter P. Stachowicz Sr.

Mrs. Stachowicz was born in Ansonia on March 6, 1924, daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret Kazokas Bujanauskas.

She was a 1941 graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy now known as Laurelton Hall. Mildred was employed at B.F. Goodrich and Wiffle Ball in Shelton and retired from BIC Corp. in Milford. She was a devoted lifelong communicant of St. Anthony Church in Ansonia and a member of Knights of Lithuania Council 135.

She is survived by her loving children, Arline Field (Douglas) of Peachtree City, GA, Christine Stack of Torrington, Walter P. Stachowicz Jr. (Jo-Ann) of Inverness, FL, Lorraine Kapinos of Ansonia and George Stachowicz (Maureen) of Oxford, cherished grandchildren, Karen Asselin (Bryan) of Torrington, Sally Mugglin (Jason) of Binghamton, NY, Pete Stachowicz of Hilo, HI, Kellie Hannon (Travis) of Atlanta, GA, Lynn Lam (Chi) of Oxford, Kevin Stachowicz of Beacon Falls and Lauren Stachowicz of Oxford, great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily Mugglin, Brody and Brett Asselin, London Hannon and Christopher Lam and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Bujanauskas and a sister, Sr. Mary Arline Bujanauskas, R.S.M.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday March 10, 2015, at 11:00 am at St. Anthony Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Private burial will take place in the family plot in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will take place on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until the procession leaves for church at the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.

Helen Smerznak, a 90 year old lifelong resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest March 5.

She was born March 11, 1924 in Ansonia, daughter of the late Cornelius & Anna Soltys Smerznak.

She worked as an office clerk for Better Packages of Shelton and retired from Ascom Haslet Mailing Systems in Shelton. She was a parishioner of the Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church of Ansonia and a member of the Ansonia, Derby & Seymour Senior Centers.

Helen was predeceased by 2 brothers, John & Stephen Smerznak and 4 sisters, Anna Smerznak, Mary Medak, Nancy Mazzucco & Jessie Kidwell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9th 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Three Saints Church, 26 Howard Ave. Ansonia, CT 06401. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Per her wishes, there are no calling hours.

Mildred Chagin, age 93, of Seymour entered peaceful rest March 5, 2015 in Derby; she was the beloved wife of the late John Chagin.

Mrs. Chagin was born May 25, 1921 in Ansonia, daughter of the late Maxim and Mary (Kruk) Huzi.

She was retired from Uniroyal, Naugatuck. Mildred was a Communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd; she enjoyed Bingo, baking, and crocheting; Mildred especially loved going to lunch.

Mrs. Chagin leaves her loving family including, a son, John Chagin (Deborah) of Philadelphia, PA, her daughter with whom she resided, Patricia Gargano (Jospeh,Sr.) of Seymour, her sisters, Dorothy Dolka (John) of Shelton, and Stella Dripchak (John) of Ansonia, her grandchildren, Joseph, Jr. (Cheryl), Michael (Kim), MaryAnn (Dino), Susan, Karen, and Christina, her great-grandchildren, Krista, Tyler, James, Daniel, and Melissa, and several nieces and nephews.

Her brothers, Michael, John, and Steve, and sisters, Anna Sawczuk and Sophie Lucuk predeceased her.

Calling Hours are Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. Funeral Services will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in the Springtime. Elizabeth (Betsy) J. Kyle

Elizabeth (Betsy) J. Kyle, a longtime Ansonia resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March, 4th.

Daughter of late Lillian (Platz) and Harold H. Kyle, she was born on February 8, 1945. Betsy just celebrated her 70th birthday.

Betsy was a graduate of Ansonia High School and Bay Path University. She enjoyed a 40 plus year career with the State of CT at the Connecticut Mental Health Center, retiring in 2009.

Betsy was enjoying her retirement volunteering at Griffin Hospital, Shelton Senior Center and DJ’g online at Maddhouse Radio. Betsy was also a vital and active member of The Church of the Good Shepherd and was a licensed Lay Eucharistic Minister.

Betsy leaves a sister, Edith Templin and her husband, Chuck of Burlington, VT, and two nephews, Jack Templin, his wife Jennifer Trayner and their daughter, Ada and Chris Templin, his wife Naomi Shulman and their two girls, Lila and Stella. She is also survived by three first cousins, Peggy Dufresne, Bill Platz and Marion Kaiser and their families. Betsy leaves behind many friends and colleagues and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, March 8th at 2:00 PM at The Church of the Good Shepherd at 680 Racebrook Rd in Orange with a reception following. Per Betsy’s wishes, her ashes will be scattered in the Memorial Garden at her beloved Silver Bay on Lake George in New York. Dulla1Joseph Martin Dulla, age 86, of Ansonia, loving husband of Cecilia (Varga) Dulla, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Griffin Hospital with his loving wife and family by his side.

Born in Hrabusice, Czechoslovakia on November 9, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Matilda (Hodak) Dulla.

Dulla2A U.S. Army veteran, Joseph served in Germany as a Morse Code Operator. Joseph was retired from Farrel Corporation after 33 years of service as a machinist and foreman. He was a member of the Farrel Old Timer’s Club, the Catholic War Veterans, the Slovak Catholic Sokol and a communicant of the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia.

During his younger years, he was involved with the Slovak Club in Ansonia where he was permittee for many years, and enjoyed playing pool, winning many tournaments. He continued to play pool during his retirement at the Fairfeld Senior Center.

Joseph was a dedicated family man and devoted Catholic, always putting the needs of others first. He was a master mechanic and jack of all trades. He spent much of his retirement gardening and helping his loving daughter, Martha, with handyman projects at the Grassy Hill Lodge in Derby.

Besides his loving wife of 50 years, Cecilia, survivors include his sister, Irma Lapsanska of Slovakia, children, Martha (Carl) Andrade of Derby, Joseph P. (Robyn) Dulla of Ansonia, Anthony Dulla of Derby and MaryAnn (Ron) Dulla-Smith of Derby, granddaughter, Tabitha Dulla of Charlston, South Carolina and several nieces and nephews in Slovakia.

He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Dulla, and sister, Valerie Krajcovic-Dulla.

His funeral will be held on Friday, March 13, at 9:45 a.m., from the Bennett Funeral Home 91 N.Cliff Street,Ansonia to the Church of the Assumption for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Calling hours Thursday from 4-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church in care of the funeral home.

Donald William Koshis Sr., age 71, husband of Maria Tallo Koshis and Ansonia resident, passed away March 6.

He was born Sept. 16, 1943 in New Haven, son of Adolph & Sophie Berzinskas Koshis.

A veteran of the United States Army, he attended St. Anthony’s Church in Ansonia and worked as a lab technician for Avco Lycoming. He was also a member of local Union #376.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert.

In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Kristine Roberts of Greeneville, Tennessee & Jennifer Cardozo of West Haven, CT., sons Donald Koshis of College Station Texas and Joseph Konnor of Ansonia, his sister Judy Yost of Ansonia, 9 grandchildren Robert, Jessica, Marisa & Deanna Koshis, John Frank, Jessica Ans, and Ayanna, Joseph & Alex Cardozo, and 5 great grandchildren Skylar, Dantae, Evangeline, Dillon & Hayden.

Elizabeth A. Slivonik Kotak, age 91, beloved wife of the late Andrew Kotak, died peacefully on March 9, 2015 at The Mary Wade Home of New Haven.

She was born March 1, 1924 in Patchogue, Long Island, NY, daughter of the late Walter and Bronislawa Slivonik.

Mrs. Kotak was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church of Ansonia, taught knitting at adult education classes and was a member of the Windy Hill Girls Club, PTA, and Mother’s Group.

She is survived by her devoted children, Kathleen Harris of Bethany, Andrew Kotak, Jr. of NJ, Mark (Mary) Kotak of Berlin, and Rebecca (John) Devito of MA; cherished grandchildren, Franklin B. Harris of MI, Andrew DeVito of Stamford, and Adam Devito of MA; and niece, Carol (George) DePalma of Oxford.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Wesley Truskolaski.

A Mass of Christian Burial, meeting directly at church, will be celebrated on Friday, March 13, 2015, at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett St., Ansonia. Springtime Interment will be in Three Saints Cemetery, Derby.

Geraldine T. (Gerry) Herrin, age 66, of Shelton entered into rest on Monday March 9, 2015 in Griffin Hospital Derby. She is the devoted wife of Danny Joe Herrin.

Gerry was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on September 30, 1948 daughter of the late Clyde and Rosemary (Fox) Giles, and has been a Shelton resident since 1970.

She grew up in Milford, and graduated from Milford High School. In 1968 she joined the U.S. Navy and later returned to CT where she graduated from Housatonic Community College.

Gerry was a member of the Sutter Terlizzi American Legion Post # 16 in Shelton, and was employed by the Bilco Company for the past 18 years, and General Electric prior to that. She is the beloved mother of Kelly Herrin, of Seymour,Danny Joe (D.J.) Herrin, Jr., and his wife Shaun, of Derby. She is the loving grandmother of Jordan Herrin, of Seymour, Ashley and Jessica Herrin ,of Derby, and Samantha Kari Brouillette, of Shelton. She is the cherished sister of Mary Scully, of Branford, and the late Marlene Pieger. She is the caring aunt of James Pieger,of Stratford, and Missy Pieger of Milford,. She also leaves her loving aunt Jeanne Fox of Wilkes-Barre , PA.

Friends may greet her family Wednesday (TODAY) from 5 to 8 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. On Thursday a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with full military honors. Burial will take place in the spring in Riverside Cemetery.

Laura Eleanor Biondi Bengivengo

Laura Eleanor Biondi Bengivengo, 98, of Smith St. Seymour, entered eternal life on March 7, 2015 at Birmingham Health Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of Pasquale Bengivengo.

Laura was born in Seymour on May 28, 1916, daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Biagiarelli Biondi.

Laura was an LPN at Yale New Haven Hospital for many years. She was a communicant of St. Augustine Church and a member of the Seymour and Oxford Senior Centers.

Laura was a helping and caring woman who was always ready to lend a hand to all who needed her loving support and encouragement.

In addition to her husband Laura was predeceased by her beloved son, Joseph Raymond Biondi and brothers James and Mario Biondi.

She is survived by her devoted sister, Elsie Valeski of Seymour, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to meet on Wednesday March 11th DIRECTLY at St. Augustine Church Seymour, for a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in the Spring. The Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour is assisting the family.

Alberta Corarito Pelletier, age 77, of Shelton, beloved wife of Roland Pelletier passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at home with her family by her side.

Daughter of the late Patsy and Alice Bennett Corarito, she was born on April 28, 1937 in Bridgeport, CT.

Alberta should be best remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.

She retired from Vishay Vitramon in Monroe, CT where she worked for 20 years.

In addition to Roland, her husband of 57 years, survivors include her children, Richard Pelletier and his wife Kathi Pelletier of Monroe, Linda Pelletier and her partner Brian Bodnar of Ansonia, and Robert Pelletier and his wife Sherri Pelletier of Marlborough, four grandchildren, Lauren, Tyler, Brianna and Joshua, sisters, Jean Abriola of Trumbull and Rose Sawicki and her husband Donald Sawicki of Arizona, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by her brother Patsy Corarito Jr. and infant sister Gloria Corarito.

The family would like to thank all family members and friends that provided so much love and support during this time. The family would also like to thank Linda Kale, RN along with care givers from Constellation Health Services, especially Candace Wilcoxson, RN and Corrinda Soares, RN, and Jessica McFadden, for their compassionate and loving care.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Avenue, Shelton, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Ronald (Steve) Johns

Ronald (Steve) Johns, 76, of West Haven, formerly of East Haven and Seymour, the beloved husband of the late Helen (Turbert) Johns ,entered into eternal rest peacefully at Middlesex Hospital on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Derby, CT on November 15, 1938, the son of the late David Lester Johns and Mary (Smart) Johns.

Steve as he was known by all was a graduate of Seymour High School Class of 1957. He worked for The New Haven Nursing Center as a Supervisor in the Housekeeping Department until his retirement. Steve was a former member of The Seymour Congregational Church. He served his country with pride and honor in the U.S.Army during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed photography, hiking and camping. But most of all Steve loved being with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all but will always remain forever in our hearts. Steve’s family wishes to thank The Staff of Gladview Healthcare of Old Saybrook for their kind and compassionate care of Steve during his stay with them.

His loving family includes his devoted daughter Heather Christine Shea and her husband Richard of West Haven, two cherished granddaughters Rebecca and Elizabeth Shea; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his cherished granddaughter Rachel Shea

Mary Ann Felice Bacha, age 87, of Oxford, formerly of Seymour, the beloved wife to the late William Peter Bacha Sr. entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Griffin Hospital, Derby, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Derby, on December 15, 1927 the beloved daughter of the late Pasqual and Louise (Pasucco) Felice.

Mary Ann was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd and it was there she taught Religious Education. She and her late husband William enjoyed making rosary beads for family and friends.

Mary Ann graduated from Derby High School in 1947 and was an avid homemaker. She enjoyed doing puzzles, watching T.V. and traveling and going on cruises with her late husband. But the joy of her life was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great -grandchildren.

Mary Ann will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts.

Her loving family includes her caring sons William P. Bacha, Jr, and his wife Christine of Durham, Thomas R. Bacha and his wife Debra of Naugatuck and Ronald J. Bacha of Seymour; her devoted daughter Nancyjo Auscavitch and her husband Jay of Oxford, with whom she made her home; a loving sister Helen Felice of Derby; six loving grandchildren Gregory and Mark Cesaroni, Jessica Brennan, Christopher Bacha, Kathleen Laskowski and Michelle Bacha, her four cherished great-grandchildren Ryan, Summer, Jessica and Luke and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was predeceased by five brothers Sal Bacha, James Bacha, Anthony Bacha and twins Frank Bacha and Joseph Bacha and her two sisters Santa Felice and Annette Baltes.
