Obituary: Alice McCarthy, 99, of Ansonia

Alice McCarthy, 99, of Ansonia, died Oct. 7, at St. Mary Home in West Hartford.

Born Feb. 16, 1916 in Ansonia, daughter of the late Michael & Anna Collins McCarthy.

She graduated from Ansonia High School. In later years, she received her associates degree from Sacred Heart University. She retired from Griffin Hospital where she was a secretary in the medical records department.

She was the youngest of 12 children and predeceased by her 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors are 3 nephews, Eugene (Gail) McCarthy of Stratford, Harold (Diane) Valois of Beacon Falls and Leon (Sandy) McCarthy of Ansonia and 2 nieces, Audrey Cassem of West Hartford and Maureen (Tom) Bachelder of Easton.

Edward A. Hallet, 76, died October 18, 2015, at Gardner Heights Health Care in Shelton. He was the husband of Joanne Tuccio Hallet.

Born in Derby on January 7, 1939, son of the late Adam and Helen Ozinsky Hallet.

A lifelong resident Ansonia, he was employed as a sheet metal worker for Union Local 40 until his retirement.

In addition to his wife Joanne, he is survived by loving sons, Keith M. Hallet (Patricia) of St. Charles, IL, Richard A. Hallet (Suzanne) of Ansonia, Edward J. Hallet (Anna) of Brookfield and Adam M. Hallet (Keirsten) of Burlington, a loving daughter, Debra Hallet of Ansonia, a brother, Richard Hallet (Joan) of East Haven, a sister, Jean Wakeman (Gary) of Shelton, a sister in law, Sharon Hallet of Naugatuck, ten cherished grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Hallet.

Margaret Eileen Gregos, 70, of Seymour, died September 29, 2015 at Talmadge Park Health Care Center, East Haven.

Born in Derby on May 1, 1945, daughter of the late John and Anna Madar Gregos, Jr.

She worked for the Amity Board of Education as a secretary for 30 years until the time of her retirement.

Survived by brothers, Michael Gregos of Seymour and John (Frances) Gregos of FL; Godson & nephew, Frank (Ginamarie) Barba, Jr. of East Haven; nephew, John (Kathy) Gregos of FL; and great-niece and great-nephew, Angela and Christopher Barba of East Haven. In addition to her parents, she was recently predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Frank) Barba, Sr.

Deborah Ann German, 57, of Ansonia, wife of Christopher German, died Oct. 15, 2015, at home with her family by her side.

Born in Derby on March 19, 1958, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Isabella Fama Szpak.

She was employed as an Energy Assistance Coordinator for Team, Inc. of Derby for the past three years, previously employed by Pella Windows for 14 years.

In addition to her husband of 36 years, she leaves to carry on, her devoted daughters, Kellie (Ricky) Santiago of Seymour and Sara (Matt) Aylward of Stratford; brother, David (Shelley) Szpak of CA, her “other brother”, Ted Butts and family of NC; cherished grandchildren, Lucille and Roman Santiago; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews of varying degrees, who along with many close friends, gave her happiness, support and love.

Barbara Jenkins Fisher, 91, a longtime resident of Seymour, died Oct. 6, 2015.

Born in Derby on August 9, 1924 the daughter of Thomas J. Jenkins & Louise Wedin Jenkins.

A graduate of Ansonia High School, class of 1942, Barbara retired from Kerite Co. of Seymour where she worked for many years.

She is survived by her son John M. Fisher & his wife Ann Marie of North Branford CT, daughter Christine Fisher Lamoureux of Frisco TX, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister Hilda Jenkins Burtaccio.

Burial: Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.

Josephine Collicelli, 94, of Ansonia, died September 25, 2015, at Griffin Hospital. She was the wife of the late Conrad Collicelli.

Born in Ansonia on May 14, 1921, daughter of the late Gaetano and Josephine Marchese Cinquemani.

A lifelong resident of Ansonia, she was employed at Mario D’Addario Auto Dealership and Shelton Products until her retirement.

She is survived by a son, Nicholas G. Collicelli and daughter in law, Christine Collicelli, of Ansonia, with whom she made her home, cherished grandsons, Nicholas Collicelli (Jaimie), Adam Collicelli (Victoria) and Steven Collicelli. She is also survived by grandsons, Christopher DiTuccio and Alexander Shippee, nieces, Linda Guardiano and Carol Breda and a nephew, Tom Cinquemani. She was predeceased by a brother, Rosario Cinquemani.

She is survived by 2 sons, Paul Carney of Ansonia, William Carney & Michele Valente of Southbury, 2 sisters Marjorie Hulstrunk of Morris Plains, N.J. & Frances Ballantyne of Derby, 2 granddaughters, Elizabeth Bailey of Hamden & Tammie Brown of Vinton, Iowa, 3 great grandchildren and 13 nieces & nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Laurie Carney and 2 brothers William & Harvey Ireland.

Survived by her children, Peter Behuniak and his wife, Gail Tomala of Glastonbury, Christine Spak and her husband, Ron Aldo of Woodbridge, Gerald Behuniak of Seymour and Joseph Behuniak of Cheshire; a sister, Mildred Pawlak of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Andrew, Stephan, Rheanna, Alex, Kaylie and Alyssa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Hulowsky, Ann Peters and Tessie Mendyk; and brothers, John, Michael, Andrew, Daniel, Joseph and Stephan Spak.

Andrew E. Bednarik, 94, died Oct. 19, 2015, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the husband of the late Natalie (Shepard) Bednarik.

Born in Ansonia on May 2, 1921, son of the late Andrew J. and Mary (Balko) Bednarik, and lived most of his life in Shelton; U.S. Army, WWII.

He worked as a milkman for Borden Dairy and then as a custodian for many years at Sikorsky Aircraft before his retirement.

He is the father of Andrew Bednarik and his wife Emma of Seymour, and Kathleen Weiss of Shelton; also survived by granddaughters, Amanda and Emily Bednarik, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Bednarik and three sisters, Helen Karlok, Mary Kurtyka, and Anna Bednarik.

Regina Mary Fatek Beauregard, 87, of Seymour, wife of the late Henry R. Beauregard, died September 15, 2015, at Shady Knoll Health Center, Seymour.

She was born in Seymour, September 4, 1928, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Lempek Fatek.

Before retiring Regina worked for The Board of Education for the Town of Seymour in the Cafeteria.

Survived by her daughter Joanne Beauregard of Gorham, ME, her son Wayne Beauregard and his wife Lisa of Nashua, NH, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her six brothers John, Frank, William, Anthony, Edward and Stanley Fatek and seven sisters Anna Ptak, Mary Jankowski, Felicia Casagrande, Harriett Fatek, Stella Samojedney, Theresa Cegelka and Genevieve Young.

Born in Bridgeport on September 11, 1920, daughter of the late Peter and Magdalena Zemla Kocaba.

She was employed as a Registered Nurse at the former Laurel Heights Hospital in Shelton, until her retirement.

She is survived by a son, Robert Bartolotta Sr. (Ellen Hutchinson) of TN, a daughter, Carolyn Palmer (Donald Sr.) of Shelton, grandchildren, Kimberly Palmer-McDermott (David), Donald Palmer Jr. (Laura), Christopher Palmer (Kimberley Brown), Sharon Kish (Tom) and Robert Bartolotta (Kate), great-grandchildren, Joseph, Patrick, Sean, Brendan, Riley and Andrew and several nieces and nephews.

Mark was born in Derby on December 14, 1959, son of the late Philip E. and Ruth Adkinson Balisciano Sr. A resident of Ansonia for most of his life; he was previously employed at Trader Joe’s in Milford and Shop Rite in Southbury.

He is survived by a loving brother, Philip E. Balisciano Jr. (Joan) of Ansonia, a niece, Laurelann Goode of Derby and several cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by a sister, Diana Zielinski and a nephew, Matthew P. Balisciano.

Isabelle was a graduate of Stone Business College and worked as a bookkeeper for Derby Public Schools as well as the Derby Neck Library. She was a former Girl Scout leader as well as a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Derby.

She leaves her daughter Barbara Badela of Derby, with whom she resided and a nephew John Moresko of Seymour, and several cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Helen Webb & brother Peter Moresko.

John Paul D’Atri, 60, of Derby, died September 28, 2015 at Griffin Hospital.

Born in Derby on May 24, 1955, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Assunta Cichelli D’Atri.

Mr. D’Atri was a U.S. Navy Veteran and longtime resident of Derby.

In his younger years, Mr. D’Atri studied martial arts and made his living working as a self-employed contractor.

He is survived by his sisters, Silvana Bizzotto and her husband, Frank of Seymour and Rosita Dzvileski and her husband, Mark of Ansonia; a brother, Enzo D’Atri of Naugatuck; as well as several nieces, nephews and a dedicated & loyal friend, Nicholas Conti of Derby. Mr. D’Atri also leaves behind his feline companions, “Zuki”, “Cheeky” and “Zoos”, for which he cared and loved as children.

Georgette Theresa Doucette, 92, of Derby, wife of the late Joseph Doucette, died peacefully at home on October 9, 2015 surrounded by her family.

Born in Fall River, MA on August 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Jean-Baptiste and Aurora Lemay Charest.

Mrs. Doucette was a longtime resident of Derby and worked as an inspector for the Shick Safety Razor Co. for over 20 years, before her retirement in 1988. She was homemaker, enjoyed gardening and crocheting as well as spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, William Doucette of Beacon Falls, Albert Doucette of Darien, Dennis (Lynn) Doucette of Hamden and Michael (Jennifer Starkey) Doucette of Guilford; sisters, Pauline Omen of IN, and Margaret Fennelly of RI; brothers, Edward (Elsie) Charest of FL, and Bertrand (Ann) Charest of MA; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

In addition to her husband of over 50 years, Mrs. Doucette was predeceased by a son, Paul Doucette, grandson, Albert Doucette; sister, Lena Sawill; and brothers, Norman and Lionel Charest.

Ethel P. Ruzicka, 85, of Derby, entered into eternal rest on October 29, 2015, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Frank J. Ruzicka.

Mrs. Ruzicka was born in Bridgeport on October 24, 1930, daughter of the late Frank and Jennie Horvath Lasky.

In addition to her husband Frank, she is survived by loving sons, Frank J. Ruzicka (Lynne) of East Haven and John V. Ruzicka (Alda) of West Haven, loving daughters, Catherine Szenes of FL, Pauline Gambardella (Nicholas) of Shelton, Shirley Himmelberger (Jason) of Naugatuck and Jean Holcomb (Kevin) of Derby, brothers, Frank and Harold Lasky of NM, Eugene Lasky of TX, Raymond Lasky of Ansonia and Lawrence Lasky of Bridgeport, a sister, Mary Ann Zuck of CA, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Walter M. Ruzicka, seven brothers and two sisters.

Thomas E. Comcowich Jr., 85, of Shelton, senior field technician for Northeast Utilities, husband of Jean P. DeMartin Comcowich, died Nov. 1, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1930, in Derby, son of the late Thomas and Eva (Wanciak) Comcowich.

Also survived by his children, Lauren (Nicholas) Steen of Minnesota, Thomas (Lisa) Comcowich, III of Wallingford and Lynn (Kenneth) Damato of Huntington; sister, Anna Mae Pertoso of Ansonia, and four grandchildren.
